Compiled in 10 years by the researchers of the Research Center of Hadith Sciences, the collection was released 2 years ago with the presence of Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani, Shia source of emulation, Ali Larijani, Iran Majlis speaker and a number of Hoze (seminary) and university intellectuals at Allameh Majlesi Hall of the Dar-ol-Hadith Scientific-Cultural Institute in the holy city of Qom.
Besides verses of the Quran, historical and Hadith sources, there are many contemporary researches which have been used in compilation of the encyclopedia.
It is divided into 15 main parts and 138 chapters, and covers 4191 narrations and 400 analyses of related issues, answers to religious doubts and distortions, and five maps showing the route of Imam Hussein’s (AS) journey to Karbala.
The biography of the Imam (AS) and his household, virtues and attributes of the Imam, evidences on his Imamate, from the demise of the holy prophet (PBUH) to Imam Ali’s (AS) martyrdom and to Ashura uprising, from Medina to Karbala, Karbala incidents, Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom, what happened following the event, the results and influences of Imam's (AS) martyrdom, mourning the occasion, Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine and pilgrimage are some of the topics included in the collection.
Entitled “Mosu’ah Al-Imam Hussein (AS)”, the 3917-page Arabic version of the first edition of the encyclopedia by Mohammad Mohammadi Reyshahri and cooperation of Seyyed Mahmoud Tabatabayi Nezhad and Seyyed Ruhollah Tabatabayi, has been published in 1000 copies.
